Cake Smash Preparation

Cake Smash sessions are messy but are lots of fun! Be prepared to get some cake on your clothes and if you are going anywhere but home after the shoot - bring a change of outfit for yourself just in case! Bring your child dressed in the cake smash outfit (unless it's too big for a car seat such as a tutu) and bring a change of clothes with you as you will need to dress them in clean clothes after the session.

It is a good idea to give your baby a taste of some cake prior to the session so they are not scared to touch the cake or eat it. If they have never had it before, they may not interact with the cake and this doesn't lead to a fun session. Some people like to bring some favourite snacks to place on the back of the cake so the baby shows interest in the cake.

A non-refundable retainer is payable when booking. This secures your session date and time.

Please contact me one month before the session to advise of your preferred colour scheme so I can prepare the set and order the cake. If you are supplying a cake, please let me know.

Cake Smash sessions come with the option of a bath afterwards, please let me know if you would like this included in your session at no extra cost. If your baby has skin allergies or sensitivities, please bring your preferred bubble bath with you.

What to bring;

• A towel and wipes

• A favourite toy that may help them look up at the camera

• Cake Smash outfit (colour coordinated with the cake and theme)

• Cake if you are bringing your own

• baby’s favourite snacks in case they don’t like cake (we can stick these to the back of the cake to entice them)

• A clean change of clothes for baby

• Swim nappy if you are opting to give baby a bath afterwards and you would prefer they weren’t naked

• Plastic bag or wet bag to put dirty clothes in - there will be cake everywhere!
